The "Folgore" Parachute Brigade is the only large airborne unit of the Italian Army,

placed under the command of the Northern Operational Forces Command.

Established on 1 January 1963 in Pisa, for the transformation of the pre-existing Military Parachuting Center,

the Brigade has its headquarters in Livorno and is located with most of its departments

in Tuscany (Siena, Pisa, Grosseto, Pistoia) with the 8th Paratrooper Sappers Regiment in Legnago

and with the 185th Parachute Artillery Regiment in Bracciano.
